José Manuel Torralba is Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (Universidad Carlos III of Madrid) and Director of IMDEA Materials Institute (Madrid). Professor at Universidad de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (from 1996), Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (first Director) (1999-2000), Vice-rector for Academic Infrastructures (in charge of the University Labs, Library and IT Services) (2000-2004), Vice-rector for Research and Innovation (in charge of the R+D+I policy and the R+D Office) (2004-2006). Deputy Director of IMDEA Materials Institute (from Nov. 2008-Jule 2015). Director-General for Universities and Research of Madrid Regional Government (2015-2017), and Director-General for Universities and Higher Artistic Studies of Madrid Regional Government (2017-2019). From April 2021, Director of IMDEA Materials Intitute. The main scientific-technological working field is Materials Science and Engineering focusing in Powder Metallurgy and Sintering. He has received many recognitions: two Honoris Causa doctorates (TU Cluj-Napoca y U. Craiova), Fellow of the two most important Powder Metallurgy association in the world:   (FAPMI, FEPMA) (first European to be Fellow at the same time in Europe and USA). FEMS Gold Medal 2021. Ivor-Jenkins Medal 2022.  He has published near 600 scientific papers (book chapters, papers, proceedings) (255 in JCR database and 324 in Scopus). According Google Scholar, more than 7000 cites. 9 patents. He has supervised 29 PhD works and more than 90 masters works. He has created the Powder Technology group at Universidad Carlos III of Madrid (considered Group of Excellence by the European Powder Metallurgy Association) and he has been the Group Leader (except the period as Director-General). He has participated in more than 80 International Advisory Commetes at International Congress and Conferences, and has Chaired 8 Congress (6 international). He has participated in 35 competitive grants, being PI in 25. He has been PI in many research Project with industries, being the Höganäs Chair in Powder Metallurgy (for more than 20 years, the most important). Editor in Chief (co-editor) of Powder Metallurgy.EPMA Fellowship Award 2020
